Body Double 21
Dans les scènes de la série Body Double, Brice Dellsperger concentre, augmente, et détourne le cinéma commercial dans des vidéos n'ayant plus grand chose à voir avec le remake. Pour son exposition à la galerie Air de Paris, il présentera "Body Double 21" d'après "The Rules of attraction" de Roger Avary (2002). Du film adapté de Bret Easton Ellis, il ne retient ici qu'un suicide. Ce moment de disparition d'une inconnue dans le film devient disparition ultime de l'image. Dellsperger, en spécialiste du travestissement, fait rejouer la scène tant par des femmes que par des hommes, rendant incertaines les frontières du genre. Reprise en boucle par les onze interprètes déjà représenté(e)s dans les précédents Body Double, cette scène devient un moment d'abandon qui transfigure l'expérience du film : une prise en otage dans un piège narratif ou l'incarnation de l'idée du manque. Si le geste est toujours le même, les doublures se succèdent, renforçant son caractère morbide et fascinant. V/VM, artiste britannique dont la démarche pourrait être rapprochée de celle de Dellsperger dans le domaine musical, signe la bande originale dans une version maladive du tube de Nilsson "Without You".

In his series Body Double, Brice Dellsperger focuses on, expands, and undermines commercial cinema with videos, which no longer have much to do with the remake. For his exhibition at Air de Paris, he will present “Body Double 21” after “The Rules of Attraction” directed by Roger Avary (2002). For this work, the artist retains but a suicide from the film based on the eponymous novel by Bret Easton Ellis. The moment where an unknown figure disappears in the film becomes in the video the final disappearance of the image. Dellsperger, a specialist in cross-dressing, has the scene redone several times by both men and women, thus rendering gender borders uncertain. Reinterpreted successively by the eleven actors already represented in the other versions of Body Double, this scene becomes a moment of abandon which transforms the experience of the film: a hostage in a narrative trap or the incarnation of the idea of absence or lack. If the gesture is always the same, the doublings follow one another, reaffirming the morbid and fascinating character of the gesture. V/VM, a British musician whose practice could be likened to Dellsperger’s but in the domain of music, provides a strange rendition of Nilsson's hit, "Without You".
