Depuis 1995, Brice Dellsperger poursuit la série des Body Double en reprenant des scènes de films appartenant au cinéma populaire tels que L’important c’est d’aimer de Zulawski, Eyes Wide Shut de Stanley Kubrick, Twin Peaks de David Lynch… Cette année marque déjà le vingtième anniversaire de la série avec encore plus de Body Double ! Et notamment Body Double 31 qui reprend la mythique scène d’interrogatoire de Sharon Stone dans Basic Instinct de Paul Verhoeven, Brice Dellsperger a cette fois remplacé les policiers par un moniteur vidéo, les questions sont alors posées de l’actrice à elle-même comme si elle recherchait une vérité sur son personnage et sa propre interprétation.

Body Double 33, rejoue une séquence de Passion, un film récent de Brian de Palma. Brice Dellsperger en a extrait une scène en champ/contrechamp où Rachel McAdams partage un moment traumatisant avec Noomi Rapace. Dans la nouvelle version, les différents champs servent de miroir l’un à l’autre, alors que les personnages sont synchronisés sur le dialogue original. Afin de prolonger cette vision cauchemardesque, Brice Dellsperger y interprête non seulement tous les rôles, mais les échange ensuite créant ainsi un vertige infini de reflets.

Brice Dellsperger est né à Cannes en 1972, il vit et travaille à Paris. Ses oeuvres sont présentes dans de nombreuses collections publiques et privées en France et à l'étranger, son long métrage Body Double X fait partie de la prestigieuse collection du MoMA, New York, USA.

Since 1995 Dellsperger has been working on his Body Double series, in which he has turned his attention to scenes from movies including Andrzej Żuławski's The Important Thing is to Love, Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and David Lynch's Twin Peaks. And now here's more, for the series' twentieth anniversary! Notably Body Double 31, which reworks the mythical Sharon Stone interrogation scene from Paul Verhoeven's Basic Instinct. Here Dellsperger has replaced the police officers with a video monitor, so that the actress is asking herself the questions, as if she were seeking some vital truth about the character and her own performance.

Body Double 33 replays a sequence from Passion, a recent offering from Brian de Palma. Dellsperger has opted for a shot/reverse shot scene of a traumatic encounter between Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace. In this new version the alternating shots mirror each other, while the characters are synchronised to the original dialogue. Taking the nightmare even further, Dellsperger not only plays all the parts, he also goes on to swap them, creating a dizzying infinity of reflections.

Brice Dellsperger was born in Cannes in 1972. He now lives and works in Paris. His work is to be found many public and private collections in France and abroad, and his feature length Body Double X has been acquired by MoMA in New York.
