Dans les photographies de Torbjørn Rødland, la réalité est constamment questionnée. Les mises en scène réalisées par l’artiste ont une étrangeté acide et explorent un grand éventail de possibilités émotionnelles. Loin de seulement remettre en cause le réalisme du médium, l’œuvre de cet artiste se situe à la fois avant, derrière, dessus et dessous toute possibilité d’image.
